How to Renew Your Philippine Passport in Hong Kong

Renewing your Philippine passport in Hong Kong has become more efficient that it takes about one month to process it. Still, applicants are advised that to apply for a new passport as early as eight months before expiration.

Who can apply or renew Philippine passport in Hong Kong
Filipinos based in Hong Kong who hold Hong Kong ID.

Requirements for Passport Renewal:
To save time and effort going to the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong, a prior online appointment is highly recommended.

  • Filled out ePassport Application form (download)
  • Current passport and photocopy of first page
  • If applicant is a minor (below 18 years), photocopy of passport of parents
  • Personal appearance. If minor, appearance of parent or guardian is required.

Procedure:

  1. Send by fax or email copies of the following:a. Hong Kong ID
    b. Passport front page displaying name and passport number
    c. Filled out ePassport Application form (download). Note: You can set the date and time for your appointment on this form.
  2. Send it to the Philippine Consulate General:
    a. By email – epass.app@gmail.com or passport.hongkongpcg@dfa.gov.ph) or fax 
    b. By fax – 2866-8559

    Wait for confirmation reply. For email, the confirmation should look similar to this:passport-appointment

  3. On the day of your appointment, bring the following:

    a. Printed appointment slip
    b. Completed ePassport application form
    c. Payment (HK$480)
    d. Photocopy of Hong Kong ID
    e. Page of your current passport containing name and photo
    f. If not yet permanent resident: Page of your current passport containing status of employment visa (if applicable)
    g. Minors: Attach copies of parents’ passports and Hong Kong ID; must be accompanied by parent.
    h. Dress code: Collared shirt for photo and data capture.

Requirements for applications other than passport renewal:
First time application for children born in Hong Kong 

  • Four (4) copies of Report of Birth (please refer to the Civil Registration and Legal Section) and birth certificate issued in Hong Kong.
  • Four (4) copies of parent’s marriage contract, if married in Hong Kong or in other countries, copy of Report of Marriage.
  • If not married, authenticated birth certificate of mother together with Affidavit of Illegitimacy. Affidavit of Recognition will be required for those babies opting to use their father’s surname.
  • Four (4) copies of parent’s passports.
  • Personal appearance of applicant, accompanied by either parent or legal guardian.

Passport application for naturalized Filipinos

  • Naturalization papers (copy and original)
  • Requirements for renewal of passport shall apply

Lost passports for Filipino tourists traveling to Hong Kong
After submission of documentary requirements, there is a prescribed clearing period of 15 days prior to issuance of replacement. All passports not issued in Philippine Consulate General Hong Kong shall be replaced only upon receipt of confirmation fax from DFA Manila.

  • Affidavit of Loss (2 copies)
  • Police Report
  • Airline Certification of Arrival in Hong Kong SAR
  • Copy of previous passport/Philippine issued ID.
  • Copy of Ticket/Certification of confirmation flight to the Philippine
  • Four (4) photos

Lost passports for Filipinos based in Hong Kong (workers/residents)

  • Affidavit of Loss (2 copies)
  • Police Report
  • Copy of lost passport (if not available, authenticated birth certificate).
  • Authenticated marriage contract / Report of marriage if lost passport is under married name.
  • Copy of valid employment contract and Hong Kong ID.
  • Personal appearance is required.

Changing passport details due to marriage
Note that only two types of passport amendment are allowed:

  1. Female applicants who wish to adopt husband’s surname.
  2. Female applicants who wish to revert to maiden name due to death of spouse/annulment of marriage.

For those married the Philippines

  • NSO authenticated marriage contract
  • NSO authenticated birth certificate of wife

For those married in Hong Kong SAR

  • 4 copies of Report of Marriage (please refer to the Civil Registry and Legal Section) and marriage contract issued in Hong Kong.
  • 4 copies of NSO birth certificate of wife
  • 4 copies passports of husband and wife
  • Report of Marriage (From provided by this Office)
  • Personal appearance

For marriages solemnized elsewhere other than in Hong Kong SAR / Philippines

  • NSO authenticated birth certificate of wife
  • NSO authenticated copy of previous marriage.
  • In case of presumptive death of husband. Court Order of Presumptive Death duly authenticated by DFA.
  • Marriage contract authenticated by the Philippine Mission which has jurisdiction over the place where the marriage was solemnized. If applying for the amendment to adopt husband’s surname, please submit NSO authenticated Report of Marriage.

Married female applicants reverting to maiden name

a. For Widows:

  • NSO authenticated death certificate of husband
  • NSO authenticated birth certificate of wife
  • NSO authenticated copu of previous marriage.
  • In case of presumptive death of husband. Court Order of Presumptive Death duly authenticated by DFA.

b. For Annulled Marriages:

  1. NSO authenticated marriage contract with annotation on annulment.
  2. Certified true copy of Court Order and Certificate of Finality duly authenticated by DFA.
  3. NSO authenticated birth certificate of wife

c. For Divorcees:

  1. NSO Marriage contract with annotation on Divorce from previous marriage.
  2. Court Order issued by Philippine Court recognizing the divorce degree obtained abroad.
  3. Birth Certificate from NSO.

Divorce among Filipino Muslims

  1. Divorce decree from Shariah Court
  2. Joint Affidavit executed by two Imams who witnessed the divorce declaration
